Entry requirements to all counties is something that is constantly changing, and as we move into a digitization era, Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is becoming more and more common. The United Kingdom introduced this requirement from 08 January 2025 as part of their new border & immigration system.
Applying for an ETA is something that you should allow plenty of time to apply for to ensure it is approved prior to departure. Before applying, there are a couple of things that you will need:
• Jpeg copy of your passport is colour (600px x 750px)
• Jpeg photo of yourself with a plain background. If this is taken on your phone, you will need to email it to yourself as a size “Large” to save it to adhere to the rules of the ETA.
• You will be required to do a facial scan. Due to this, if you require assistance to complete this, you will need to arrange an appointment to complete your application.
• You will need a credit card to complete this as fees do apply for the ETA. This is currently GBP10 and is converted at the current Rate of Exchange.
Once submitted, it can take a few days for the approval to be received.
As a Travel Agent, when booking flights with me, I do check the Visa Requirements before providing your full documentation. As these rules do constantly change, if you are booking well in advance, I am able to check these rules for you closer to your departure complimentary to ensure no surprises will be sprung upon you at check in time.
Remember, without a Travel Agent, you are on your own. I am here to help you every step of the way when you are “Due 2 Travel”.
